Word Curses

The spoken word is very powerful. The world was created by the spoken word, and what we say, and what other people say to us can have a profound effect on us, especially if the person saying it has some sort of authority in our lives.

Frequently these curses come in the form of judgements spoken over us, which we then repeat over ourselves. For example, your headmaster at school might have said to you, “You’ll never be an influence on people”. (This happened to me.) That word, and the agreement with it, will act as a curse and prevent you from being respected by anyone.

When I deal with word curses, I pray this prayer (or something very similar):

I forgive those who cursed me with the spoken word [(if appropriate), including myself,] by saying ……… . I repent for receiving this curse and giving it place in my life. I ask you to forgive me, Lord. I receive your forgiveness. I renounce and break the legal rights and power of this curse in my life based on the shed blood of Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross. I appropriate the power of the cross to cancel all judgements and to stop the work of all demons associated with this curse.
